I submitted my information in order to be notified when Zhiing was available for my phone, and recieved an email saying that it was available a few days ago. However, after I followed the steps to download and install the product, which went off without a hitch, I never recieved the conformation sms to activate the product. What do I need to do in order to activate the product or is Zhiing not truly available for my device? I have a Samsung Blackjack II (SGH-i617) running windows mobile 6.0 standard. Thanks for any and all help in advance.

Grant,

Thanks for the post.

Have you set up the account settings? There are two methods for doing this. Both methods will take you through a wizard like set-up for the Zhiing application. Ensure that the telephone number you enter is the correct one for the device, otherwise your confirmation sms will be sent elsewhere!

1) Goto Messaging and select the Zhiing account. Open the menu option (right softkey) -> Tools -> Options. Select Account settings.

2) Goto Start Menu -> Programs and select the Zhiing Manager. Once loaded select Edit account settings.

Anymore issues, please let me know.

Mike,

I have tried using the Zhiing manager and I am sure that the cell phone number is correct (I have tried both with a 1 in front and without), but still have not gotten the activation sms. As for the other method you mentioned, I dont see a Zhiing account anywhere within the messaging section of my phone. Could this possibly be the problem?

Thanks,

Grant

Grant,

If the account is not showing up on the device, it probably means that the Zhiing application can't be loaded by the native messaging application.

The Messaging application should show a list of accounts. Eg. Text Messages, MMS, New Email Account.....

Once Zhiing is installed you should see a Zhiing account there as well. It might be a security issue with your device, to help me diagnose your issue could you post the ZOSLog.txt that's found on the root of your device if it exists.

Thanks.

Good Day,

My wife has a Samsung Blackjack the original running WM 6.x. She downloaded Daynotez and it does not seem to show up on her device. Is the Blackjack a supported device?
Can you offer any tips or tricks to get it installed?

Thanks for the help.

Michael

Michael,

Thank you for your post. Do you really mean Daynotez? This forum is for the new Zhiing application. Steps to install the Zhiing application are:

  1. Copy Cab file, if you have used the website you should have an SMS with a download link. Click this and download the cab file to the device.
  2. Install Cab file. IE should display a dialog once download is complete allowing you to open the file, select open. If you have downloaded the file another way, locate it and click on it from file explorer. Both methods will launch the cab installation application.
  3. Follow any on screen prompts and click "yes" to any security messages that pop up.
  4. The cab installer will report a success when complete.
  5. If the account has not been set up on the device before, you should be launched into the account setup screen. This will allow you to add your screen name and more importantly your cell number as well as other settings.
  6. If the account set up wizard doesn't launch automatically for any reason, then activate the icon "Zhiing Manager" found under Start Menu->Programs. This will give you options to edit settings, feedback, goto inbox and the about dialog. Select "Edit Account Settings". Once the wizard style set up is complete you should receive an SMS after a few minutes. This SMS contains an activation link, open the sms and click the link to activate the new Zhiing account. Congratulations!

Once set up is complete there are two ways into the Zhiing application.

  1. Through the native messaging application. Activate the native message application and you will see a new account called "Zhiing". Activate this icon and you will be able to write new Zhiings, read Zhiings etc.
  2. Through the icon "Zhiing Manager" located under start menu->programs.

Hope this helps.

Hey Grant,

Thanks for the log file. It looks like the install is either corrupt or the security on the device is not allowing Zhiing to run properly. To verify the install I've written a small utility to flush the zhiing settings to the log file.

Could you copy the attached file to the device and run it from the devices' file explorer by clicking on ZhiingUtil.exe. It will take ~30secs to query the device and write out to ZosLog.txt, there will be no indication that the exe is running.

Once the utility has run could you post the log file or email it to me.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Mike

P.s. I've had to rename the attachment to ZhiingUtil.txt in order to post it. You will need to download and rename it to ZhiingUtil.exe.

Grant,

Thanks for the log again. The utility has verified your install. Everything on your device is as it should be.

What network are you running on? I have noticed a large amount of issues reported about the security policies configured on your particular model for some networks.

The version of Zhiing is still in beta and has not been signed with a trusted certificate. Which might explain why Zhiing has been prohibited from running properly. It may help to unlock your phone, I will investigate your issue further and hopefully provide you with a resolution.

For unlocking try this, although I've not verified the content of this link..

Mike,

My phone is already app unlocked, which is what you are talking about with needing to be able to run apps with non-signed certificates (I think). I have several apps on my phone that are from "non-trusted" and non-signed sources and they all work fine. I will look through the link you posted about editing the registry more thoroughly when I have some time, but I think that the lack of signed certificate shouldn't be an issue.

I appreciate the help so far though, and hope that we can get this working so that other people who are having this issue can use the app.

Grant,

There is a new version available for download that includes a fix your issue. This is version 0.88.3. Please let me know if you are still experiencing problems.
